MEALS ON WHEELS MONTGOMERY ALABAMA METRO AREA POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The goal of Meals on Wheels is to support our senior neighbors in remaining independent and healthy by delivering nutritious meals, building social connections, providing safety checks, and connecting them with available services in the community.
POSITION TITLE: Director of Development
REPORTS TO: MOWMAMA Board of Directors
POSITION CATEGORY: Exempt
EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Regular full time
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible directly to the Chief Executive Officer for the effective and efficient development and implementation of the development plan and strategy for Montgomery Area Council on Aging (MACOA) DBA Meals on Wheels Montgomery AL Metro Area (MOWMAMA). The Director will be responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Development Committee and the
Board of Directors to create and implement MOWMAMA’s fund development plan and strategy which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.
Manage the implementation of Donor Perfect and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing. Oversees the administration of donor mailing list and database.
Develop and grow our individual donor base and manage annual giving campaign and cultivate major gifts.
Oversees organization of special events and all communications to community to include newsletters and direct mail pieces.
Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in fund development plan.
Track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising and grants.
Supervises, directs, motivates, trains, and evaluates Development staff members in accordance with the MOWMAMA Employee Handbook and applicable MOWMAMA and Chief Executive Officer policies and procedures.
Prepares, administers, provides data, and makes recommendations on the Development budget.
Create, implement and maintain MOWMAMA’s recognition programs for donors.
Establishes and maintains positive, professional, and cooperative relationships and regularly networks with political, civic, corporate, community, media, fund raising, marketing, public relations, and church leaders, members, and organizations.
Researches and remains current on fund raising, marketing, and public relations trends, programs, techniques, procedures, policies, legislation, and related issues.
Performs travel in support of job requirements and related work as necessary and directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Familiarity with community marketing, public relations, non-profit, civic, media, and fundraising resources and programs.
Ability to consistently provide effective, positive leadership, and management to the Development staff and volunteers as well as build and maintain professional, respected, and positive relationships with community leaders, clients, the MOWMAM staff, Board of Directors, and the general public.
Ability to exercise sound, logical judgment and make accurate and timely decisions to consistently and positively support and enforce the policies and procedures of the MOWMAMA Employee Handbook, the Chief Executive Officer, and MOWMAM Bylaws.
Familiarity with accepted standard budgeting and accounting procedures.
Ability to consistently and effectively communicate orally, formally and informally, with individuals and groups of varied backgrounds, races, beliefs, sexes, disabilities and handicaps, and economic status and to consistently prepare reports and correspondence in a clear, accurate, professional, and grammatically correct manner.
Ability to lift and carry, without assistance, boxes/items of at least 30 pounds in weight. Computer literacy.
Possession of the minimum automobile liability insurance required by Alabama on any privately-owned motor vehicle used in the performance of MOWMAMA directed work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in marketing, fund raising, or related field or three years practical experience (required)
Supervisory/management experience (required)
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills (required)
Knowledge of community development and social service delivery programs (desired)
Experience developing and operating within a budget (desired) Experience working with and managing volunteers (desired) Computer experience (required)
Possession of a valid Alabama driver's license, an acceptable driving record as verified by a Motor Vehicles Records check and the availability of an insured motor vehicle for daily use in work related duties (required)
Satisfactory police background check (required)
Ability to work a flexible work schedule and participate in work related activities outside of normal work hours (required)

Pay: Salary Range - $50,000 to $65,000 based on experience level Benefits:
